NDEO: Principles of Simonson Technique
Simonson Technique, created and developed by master teacher Lynn Simonson, is an organic approach to the pedagogy of movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware.
Simonson Technique, created and developed by master teacher Lynn Simonson, is an organic approach to the pedagogy of movement that prepares the body to dance in a way that is anatomically intelligent and somatically aware. Simonson Technique explores the pedagogical aspects of stretching, skeletal alignment and placement, the body-mind connection, and the use of weight, plié, and breath.
Simonson-certified teachers are equipped with practical classroom tools, such as cueing, anatomically based correcting, level-appropriate movement, and self-accompaniment that are relevant across all styles of dance. Students learn to appreciate the uniqueness of their own musculoskeletal parameters, and are taught to find anatomically sound movement for their own bodies that allows them to dance injury free.
